Raisani assails move to transfer Kachhi from Nasirabad to Sibi

QUETTA: Former senator Mir Lashkari Khan Raisani on Tuesday filed a constitutional petition in the Balochistan High Court, challenging the government decision to transfer Kachhi district from Nasirabad division to Sibi division.

After filing the petition, Mr Raisani criticised the Balochistan government, accusing it of creating unnecessary administrative disputes instead of addressing the province’s real issues and vowed that his party would continue to defend the people’s constitutional and national rights.

He said the government’s decision had abolished the historical identity of Kalat division and created unnecessary administrative and political complications.

He said his petition was not directed against the people of Sibi, describing Sibi as an integral part of the homeland, but alleged that the government was attempting to create local disputes.

He warned that the decision could create complications in admissions to technical and professional institutions, government employment opportunities, and water-sharing arrangements involving Kachhi and Bala Nari.

He said his party would defend the rights of the people of both Kachhi and Sibi.

The former senator further alleged that the current provincial government had been imposed upon the people of Balochistan to divert public attention from issues relating to national rights and autonomy.

“We will not abandon our national authority or constitutional rights,” he said. In reply to a question, Mr Raisani criticised Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, saying he was not a product of the political process and lacked sensitivity towards the country’s national units.
