Addict held for injuring wife, three daughters

LAHORE: An alleged chronic drug addict was arrested after reportedly attacking and injuring his wife and three daughters in the Kahna area here on Sunday.

The police identified the suspect as Irfan and lodged a case against him.

According to initial police reports, the suspect, on the day of the incident, asked his wife to arrange some money for him for drugs. When she refused, he allegedly returned with a dagger and injured his wife. The suspect also allegedly attacked his three daughters when they stepped in to rescue their mother.

On hearing the screams of the girls, a neighbour called the police, who reached the site and took the suspect into custody.

The police and the Rescue 1122 officials later shifted Fouzia, the wife of the suspect, and daughters Kinza, Kabeera and Alia to a nearby hospital.Meanwhile, a young motorcyclist died in a road accident near FC College here on Sunday.

According to reports, the youth was identified as Ibrar, a resident of Misri Shah, and the fatal accident took place when he was performing a wheelie and riding the bike on its back wheel.

A police official said that some six to seven young bikers were performing dangerous stunts at that time. He claimed that the motorbike of Ibrar stuck a pole alongside the road near the FC underpass when he lost control due to high speed. The young man suffered deep head injuries which proved fatal on the spot, he said, adding that his fellows fled the scene.
