BAHAWALPUR: Another victim of the Burewala gas cylinder blast incident succumbed to his injuries at the Nishtar hospital Multan on Sunday, raising the total deaths in the incident to four.
Earlier, three victims, including a child, died at the Multan hospital.
According to Burewala Police and Rescue 1122, the victim who died this morning was identified as Shabir Ahmed, son of bakery shop owner Khadim Hussain.
The gas cylinder blast and fire occurred at a bakery on July 16 at Burewala’s Chungi No. 5 and thirteen persons, including two children, had suffered serious burns and were shifted to the Nishtar Hospital. The condition of two other victims was said to be serious.
LAID TO REST: Three victims slain in Balochistan’s Turbat area by terrorists on July 30 were laid to rest on Saturday night at their ancestral graveyard in Basti Kohja in Mauza Bahli in Khairpur Tamewali tehsil of Bahawalpur.
Earlier, moving scenes were witnessed when their bodies arrived from Balochistan as their family members mourned the tragedy.
The victims were identified as Muhammad Taimoore, Muhammad Wazir and Muhammad Pervaiz. A large number of people from the surrounding rural areas participated in their collective funeral prayers.
BOOKED FOR RAPE: The Vehari Gaggo Police booked a man for allegedly raping a married woman in Chak 185EB Hajiabad More.
According to the victim, N, her acquaintance, on the night of July 19 came to her house in the absence of her husband. She alleged that he raped her at gunpoint and also took pictures.
The victim has complained that the rapist had not been arrested yet. When contacted, a Vehari Police spokesperson told Dawn that police teams were tracking the suspect to arrest him.
ACCIDENTS: Three persons, including a child, died in three different incidents, while a man suffered serious injuries in another incident.
In one incident, Rescue 1122 said labourer Imtiaz was working on the roof of a house when he accidentally fell and died in Basti Malook. In another incident in the same area, six-year-old Amjad was electrocuted when he touched a pipe while playing and died.
Separately, motorcyclist Akbar Umar (45) was crushed under the wheels of a truck coming from behind while his wife Fehmidah suffered serious injuries.
They fell on the road after hitting a dog at Bhatta Chowk Adda on Kotla Musa Khan road near Ahmedpur East.
Rescue 1122 shifted the dead body and the injured to the Ahmedpur East THQ Hospital.
