TOBA TEK SINGH: A four-year-old child drowned in a canal in Chak 368 JB Jullianwala in Gojra tehsil on Saturday.
According to Rescue 1122, Zain Ali was playing near the bank of the Jhang Branch Canal when he suddenly slipped and fell into the canal.
He was immediately pulled out by the locals, however, he became unconscious and was shifted to the Gojra THQ Hospital where he was declared dead.
Meanwhile, a young man drowned in a sem nullah on Lahore Road near Laundianwala, Faizpura area of Jaranwala.
According to rescuers, the water level in the nullah was high due to recent rains and some youths were bathing when 23-year-old Ali Shahbaz, of Syed Pura Landianwala, also jumped into the water to bathe but got trapped in deep water and drowned.
Separately, an 18-year-old youth died after falling from a running bus on Samundri Road near the Novelty overhead bridge.
Reports said Rana Muhammad Zubair tried to board a bus but slipped and fell on the road. He was crushed to death by the rear tyre of the same bus.
In another incident, a speeding motorcycle collided with a roadside tree after its tyre burst near the Dinga railway level crossing on Abbaspur Road in Faisalabad.
As a result, Zain Jabbar (27) was critically injured and died instantly, while his pillion Awais (24) also received multiple injuries and was shifted to the Faisalabad DHQ Hospital.
ARRESTED FOR RAPE: The Gojra City Police claimed to have arrested a man on Saturday for allegedly raping his own daughter along with his accomplices.
The mother of the victim claimed in her complaint that her 20-year-old daughter J was present at home when her father took her to a room and sexually assaulted her at gunpoint.
She claimed that her daughter told her that two months ago her father took her to Pensara Road where he and his accomplice M along with three unidentified persons sexually assaulted her.
The Gojra City Police had arrested the father and had started investigations.
EXCISE OFFICIALS HELD: The Faisalabad anti-corruption establishment (ACE) arrested two excise officials on Saturday for receiving a bribe.
According to ACE officials, complainant Muhammad Asif Siddique had informed the ACE deputy director that Excise Inspector Waqas Randhawa and Constable Wali Dad had demanded a bribe of Rs100,000 in exchange for granting concessions in property assessment for the financial year 2026-27.
ACE Deputy Director Investigation Muhammad Sarfraz Warraich conducted a raid under the supervision of Civil Judge Amanullah Bhatti and arrested both officials red-handed while receiving the bribe money.
RESIDENTIAL PLOTS: The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) has sold 284 residential plots comprising 10-marla and one kanal areas in various blocks of the FDA City to Fesco for Rs2.3476 billion.
An FDA spokesperson said on Saturday that under the agreement, the first installment cheque of Rs586 million was presented to FDA Director General Muhammad Asif Chaudhary by Fesco CEO Muhammad Amir in the presence of Commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh.
FDA Additional Director General Qaiser Abbas Rind, Chief Engineer Mehr Ayub, directors Suhail Maqsood Pannu, Junaid Hassan Manj, Yasir Ejaz Chattha and Afnan Saeed Sandhu were also present.
The commissioner appreciated Fesco’s decision to provide its employees with a secure, modern, and high-quality residential environment, saying the initiative would positively impact employee welfare and institutional performance.
He expressed hope that cooperation between the two organisations would continue to grow, creating more opportunities for public service.
