LAHORE: The district election commissioner of Punjab has officially released the preliminary delimitation list for the upcoming local government elections in Lahore, establishing a total of 433 union councils across the provincial capital.
According to the issued notification, the city has been divided into nine distinct towns to streamline local administration and representation.
Under this new division, Model Town contains the highest number of constituencies with 77 UCs, followed closely by Shalimar Town with 72, and Lahore City with 69. Moving across the other regions, Ravi Town has been allocated 52 UCs, Nishtar Town has 40, Allama Iqbal Town 37, and Raiwind City has 32.
The final two areas, Saddar Cantt and Wagah Town, consist of 29 and 25 UCs, respectively.
The election commission has also provided a clear timeline for public feedback and the finalisation of these boundaries. Citizens who wish to contest or raise concerns regarding the new borders can file formal objections by June 23.
The authorities will review and hand down decisions on these complaints by July 24, leading up to the official publication of the finalised delimitation list on Aug 10.
