PITB: A delegation from Pakistan Navy Engineering College visited the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) as part of an industrial tour aimed at exposing trainee naval officers to modern digital governance practices.

The visit focused on familiarising the officers with the Government of Punjab’s technology-driven initiatives designed to enhance public service delivery, ensure transparency, and promote efficient governance. Pakistan Navy Engineering College is a key constituent institution of the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST).

During the session, PITB Director Generals Waqar Naeem Qureshi and Syed Qasim Ifzal delivered a comprehensive briefing on various technology-based projects implemented across Punjab. The delegation was informed about several flagship initiatives that have not only transformed governance within the province but have also been adopted as models by other provinces.

The participants were also shown a specially-curated video presentation highlighting the impact and scope of the Government of Punjab’s flagship digital initiatives.

Later, the delegation visited different facilities at the Arfa Software Technology Park (ASTP), where PITB Additional Director General (Admin) Zulfiqar Ali Shaheen and Director Haroon Rasul Khokhar briefed them on operational systems, administrative frameworks and service delivery mechanisms.

The delegation was also briefed on citizen-centric services at e-Khidmat Centre, where multiple public services were delivered under one roof through integrated digital platforms. The session emphasised how technology was enabling seamless, efficient, and accessible service delivery for citizens.

PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf highlighted that the primary objective of such visits was to provide trainee officers with practical insights into the effective use of information technology in governance, evolving requirements of digital governance, and the growing role of technology in public service delivery.

“The exposure is expected to help them incorporate these practices into their professional careers and contribute towards innovation and efficiency in their respective domains,” he maintained.
