Man held for posting ‘anti-state’ content in Lahore
LAHORE: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested a man for allegedly posting anti-army and anti-state content on social media platforms.
According to an official, suspect Azhar Ali was sharing content on social media platforms that was directed against state institutions. He said the suspect was arrested from Multan and a case had been registered against him under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 and relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Punjab NCCIA Director Muhammad Ali Wasim said action against misuse of social media and dissemination of content against state institutions would continue in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested five suspects allegedly involved in hawala/hundi and illegal currency business.
The FIA Corporate Crime Circle Lahore arrested Wasim Mahmood Afridi, Abdul Wahab, Idris Khan, Ishaq, and Zubair during a raid conducted at Delhi Gate.
FIA claimed the arrested individuals were involved in hawala/hundi and illegal currency exchange activities. A sum of over Rs11.2 million was recovered from the suspects, FIA said.
