BAJAUR: Four people, including two girls, were killed and a woman was injured when the roof of a room collapsed in the Mandal area of Bajaur district on Wednesday.

Rescue 1122 officials and residents said the incident took place in the Dag Lam Shah village. They said a room in Rasool Khan’s house collapsed.

They told Dawn that inmates of nearby houses rushed to the scene after learning about the incident and started rescue efforts to pull out the victims from the debris. They were later joined by a team from Rescue 1122.

“Five people, including three women and two girls, were injured in the incident,” said Amjad Khan, the district emergency officer.

The official, however, said two women and two girls died while being shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.

He said the deceased included the wife and daughter of Rasool Khan, the wife of Abdullah Jan, and the wife of Rahmatullah, while the injured, the daughter of Aziz Jan, was later referred to a hospital in Peshawar due to her critical condition.
