Opposition to continue protest until Imran examined by own doctors
ISLAMABAD: After the jail authorities did not allow the family members of Imran Khan to visit him in jail despite concerns about his health, the Tehreek Tahafuz Aiyeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP) once again urged the government to allow his personal physicians to examine him while refusing to call off its five-day sit-in at Parliament House.
Like every week, Aleema Khan and other sisters of Mr Khan arrived in Rawalpindi to meet their brother in Adiala jail, but they were not allowed to proceed towards the prison by the police. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Secretary General Salman Akram Raja also sought to meet Mr Khan, but were barred by the jail administration.
Meanwhile, family members of Bushra Bibi, were allowed to meet her in jail. According to sources, three of her family members, including her daughter, met her for around 40 minutes.
In a tweet, the TTAP shared a list of demands following its “emergency meeting” prompted by the government’s refusal to let the family members meet Mr Khan.

TTAP spokesperson Akhunzada Hussain Ahmed Yousafzai said their protest would go on and that they were deliberating their strategy in light of the press conference by Aleema Khan and sisters. He said the government should have allowed at least one family member to meet Mr Khan, as this decision would have ended rumours.
The opposition also called for his personal physicians, Dr Aasim Yusuf and Dr Faisal Sultan, to be provided immediate and “confidential” access so that they could “independently” examine Mr Khan.
The TTAP demanded copies of all medical tests, diagnostic and X-ray reports, scans and laboratory tests of Mr Khan be handed over to his personal physicians. Moreover, the “personal physician should be allowed to develop an independent medical opinion in the absence of the medical board or any pressure”.
It also demanded permission for the PTI leader’s personal physicians to conduct follow-up examinations regularly, besides seeking an explanation from the government for the delay in the treatment, diagnosis and the provision of medical treatment.
As the issue persisted, KP CM Sohail Afridi said the government’s actions were worsening the situation in the country. “It should be remembered that we do not want to do politics on the health of Imran Khan sahib. And despite extreme pain, we are showing great patience… The people of Pakistan will not tolerate any more oppression nor will we sit idly by,” the CM warned.
