Religious scholar’s son shot dead in Bajaur

BAJAUR: The son of a religious scholar was shot dead by unidentified persons in Inayat Kallay Bazaar here on Wednesday morning.

Police and locals said that 34-year-old Khalilur Rehman, son of Maulana Sher Ahmad, was targeted by unidentified armed men in Shah Wali Market.

Lowi Sam police station SHO Gul Zada said that the victim received multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot. Although attackers could not be traced immediately, investigation was launched to determine the motive behind the attack and identify the people involved in the crime, he added.

The father of the deceased, Maulana Sher Ahmad, a resident of Inam Khoro Chinagi of War Mamund tehsil, is a senior teacher at a seminary Jamia Anwarul Uloom, Khar. The murder of Khalil in broad daylight packed locals.

On Tuesday evening, a man was killed and his companion was injured by unidentified assailants in Badi Samore area of Khar tehsil. The deceased was identified as Gul Nabi and injured as Abdullah.

ROAD: Authorities on Wednesday reopened Dama Dola-Umary Chowk road in Warr Mamund tehsil after successful talks were held between officials of district administration and a delegation of Awami National Party.

“We are pleased to announce that authorities have agreed to immediately reopen Dama Dola-Umary Chowk road in War Mamund tehsil, which has been closed to public movement for the past couple of days due to security reasons,” said Gul Afzal Khan, the president of ANP local chapter, in his video message.

The video clip was shared both on Gul Afzal Khan’s and party’s Facebook pages shortly after the ANP delegation held meeting with deputy commissioner and other officials. The will be reopened to all types of public movement.

In the video clip, Gul Afzal Khan, seen with several local ANP leaders, said that officials had opted to reopen the road after being informed about the problems of people.

The reopening of the road, connecting various areas of the district, was also confirmed by locals.
