Justice must be delivered as per law: SHC CJ
BADIN: Acting Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court Zafar Ahmed Rajput has emphasised that justice must be delivered strictly according to the law, not personal discretion.
He said this on Saturday while visiting Badin on the invitation of the District Bar Association.
The event was attended by retired justices Abdul Rasool Memon and Ghulam Rabbani, Sindh High Court Registrar Asif Majeed, District & Sessions Judge Badin Inayatullah Bhutto, DSJ Tando Muhammad Khan Inam Ali Kalhoro, Deputy Commissioner Badin Yasir Bhatti, SSP Badin Qamar Raza Jiskani, bar office bearers and a large number of judges and lawyers.
Addressing the gathering, the senior judge said that justice is the fundamental right of every oppressed person. “Policies are not made by us. The law prevails. If the law provides relief, then relief must be given under all circumstances,” he noted and warned that judgments based on personal preference damage the credibility of the entire judiciary.
“If decisions are not in accordance with the law, doubts arise not only about the judge but also about the entire institution,” he said.
He stressed that judges must stand with the oppressed. “A society may survive in disbelief, but it cannot survive in oppression,” he said.
