LAHORE: Taking a flying start at the U-19 World Volleyball Championship, Pakistan defeated Belg­ium 3-0 in Tashkent on Thursday.

Pakistan, who are participating in the 24-nation global event for the very first time, won the match 25-19, 25-17,25-22.

Pakistan grabbed 32 through attacks, 11 through blocking and two points through ace services.

They also got 30 points due to errors made by the opponent team.

Mohammad Saud (13), Mohammad Yahya (11) and Jabran (eight) performed well for Pakistan in the match.

Overall 24 top nations are competing in the mega event, including Brazil, Italy, Japan, Iran, United States, France and Poland.

Pakistan, who placed in pool ‘A’ alongside Belgium, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Puerto Rico, now face hosts Uzbekistan on Friday.
