LWMC takes over cleanliness operations at railway station

LAHORE: Following an agreement signed between the Pakistan Railways and the Lahore Waste Management Company, the LWMC on Tuesday officially took over the cleanliness operations at the Lahore Railway Station.

The step is aimed to ensure a clean and pleasant environment for the passengers at the Lahore Railway Station.

The agreement signing ceremony was attended by Local Government Secretary Shakeel Ahmed Mian, LWMC CEO Babar Sahib Din and Pakistan Railways CEO Aamir Ali Baloch.

The LWMC CEO stated that a dedicated team comprising a manager, five supervisors and 105 workers will maintain cleanliness at the railway station around the clock in three shifts.

The areas covered include platforms, reservation counters, waiting halls, washrooms, parking areas, railway tracks, and the offices. Additionally, night-shift teams will carry out platform and track washing to ensure thorough sanitation.

The PR CEO said the decision to outsource the railway station’s cleaning services was influenced by LWMC’s efficient operations and monitoring systems under chief minister’s ‘Suthra Punjab’ programme.

He thanked the local government secretary and LWMC CEO for provision of free-of-cost janitorial material for the railway station.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the agreement between LWMC and PR was signed by Deputy CEO Zulqarnain Khan and Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Atika Zaigham.
