RAWALPINDI: The district administration on Saturday set May 31 as the last date for filing applications for collection of sacrificial animal hides during Eidul Azha.

According to the Punjab Home Department, collection of hides without permission is banned.

After receiving directives from the Punjab Home Department, Deputy Commissioner Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema imposed a ban on collection of animal hides in the district without permission.

The senior official said banned outfits were not allowed to collect the animal hides while the charity organisations can collect the hides with permission granted by the district administration. He said the home department had banned the collection of hides of sacrificial animals without the approval of the competent authority.

“The DC office Rawalpindi will not receive any application for the permission letter after the expiry of the deadline. Any organisation or person who collects hides of sacrificial animal without prior approval will be treated as an offence and strict action will be taken against them as per law,” he said.

He said that the applicants would submit their Computerised National Identity Card’s copy, bank statement of the organisation, previous permission letter’s copy and the number of hides collected in the past.

He said that the special teams had been formed to stop illegal hide collection stalls during Eid days. He said that permission holders will not be allowed to use loud speakers and install stalls on main roads.
