DADU: A police van — part of a VIP protocol escort — hit a motorcycle causing instant death of its two riders on Sehwan-Bhan Syedabad Bypass on Friday. The deceased youths were identified as Ali Bahar Shahnani and Ali Nawaz Brahmani.

Bhan Syedabad SHO Abdul Latif Rajput, speaking to Dawn, said that the police van was taken into custody and brought to the police station. He said the accident took place near the Grid Station turning along the Indus Highway.

It was learnt that the VIP vehicle coming from Larkana was destined for Karachi.

The area police transported the two victims to a government hospital in Bhan Syedabad.

According to the SHO, the motorcycle had first collided with another motorcycle and then fell in front of the speeding police van. The VIP escort comprised two police vans, he added.
