Amnesty, others call for probe into Israel’s killings of Gaza medics

Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) and Amnesty International have condemned Israel’s killing of 15 medics and emergency workers who had been trying to rescue civilians wounded in Israeli attacks on March 23.

MAP, a UK-based charity, said the killings were “yet another unconscionable attack on health and humanitarian operations in Gaza” and called for “urgent independent, international investigations” into the incident.

“The latest horrors reported in Rafah raise the question: what will it take for the UK government to finally stand up for international law and protect Palestinian lives?” asked Rohan Talbot, a spokesman for MAP.

“The UK must not be an ally to atrocities, and must take immediate action to ensure that those responsible are held fully accountable.”

Amnesty said independent monitors must be granted immediate access to the Gaza Strip for investigations.
