‘Humanity at its darkest hour’: UNRWA sounds alarm over humanitarian crisis in Gaza
UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini says no humanitarian aid has entered Gaza for more than three weeks now, as Israeli forces continue to seal vital border crossings, Al Jazeera reports.
“This is [the] longest that Gaza has been without any supplies since the war began,” Lazzarini waned. “During the ceasefire, 500–600 trucks arrived daily. Now, nothing.”
Meanwhile, children are going hungry, the sick and wounded remain without medicine, and prices of essentials are soaring across Gaza, he said.
“The siege must be lifted and crossings must re-open for a standard flow of humanitarian aid and commercial supplies,” he added.
