LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday disposed of a petition filed by Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari against the uploading of her fake videos on social media, following a report submitted by the Federal Investigation Agency’s cyber crime wing.

A three-member full bench headed by Chief Justice Aalia Neelum heard the minister’s petition, which challenged the inaction of authorities concerned against those responsible for uploading the fake videos online. The bench expressed satisfaction over the FIA’s report and disposed of the petition accordingly.

The bench directed the FIA to submit a case progress report to the deputy registrar (judicial) within 15 days.

The bench noted that the petitioner’s grievance had been addressed under the Peca Amendment 2025.

Ms Bokhari had approached the court in July last year, seeking a directive for the FIA to take action against those involved in spreading her fake videos on social media.

‘HARASSMENT’ PLEA: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday disposed of a petition regarding the harassment of female students in private educational institutions.

A full bench headed by Chief Justice Aalia Neelum heard the petition filed through Advocate Rana Sikandar, highlighting incidents of harassment in the educational institutions and requesting court orders to curb such acts.

The bench directed the chief secretary to conduct an inquiry into alleged harassment of female students in educational institutions of the province.

During the hearing, Deputy Attorney General Asad Bajwa informed the bench that the woman who had falsely claimed to be the mother of an alleged victim of harassment in a branch of the Punjab College has been arrested.

He said the woman initially appeared as victim’s mother in a viral video, but later her dance video surfaced on social media.

CJ Neelum observed that law-enforcement agencies must ensure the implementation of the law. She remarked if institutions had fulfilled their responsibilities earlier, such chaos would not have spread across the country.
