The Israeli military acknowledged it was “overconfident” and had misconceptions about Hamas’s military capabilities ahead of the October 7, 2023 attack, a senior military official has said as the army released a report on the events, AFP reports.

The official said the army had not maintained “a comprehensive understanding of the enemy’s military capabilities” and that it was “overconfident” in its knowledge.
