There is no entry of much-needed shelters — mobile homes and caravans — into the Strip, according to Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud who reporting from Beit Hanoon, Gaza.
“The Government Media Office in Gaza said yesterday only 45 per cent of the 200,000 tents have been allowed on trucks into Gaza. They only cover only a small percentage of the population,” he said.
Israel is also preventing 60,000 mobile homes from being delivered to the enclave. People who go back to their home neighbourhoods are scattered in Gaza and it is quite difficult to reach some of these areas.
“It was hard to drive through roads to the area we are reporting from right now — let alone the necessary walking distance.
“This is caused by months of devastation and the intense bombing campaign that devastated Gaza’s infrastructure. There is no proper infrastructure for vehicles to move on and people to walk around.
“So, moving trucks and delivering aid takes time and there are always delays due to the situation on the ground,” he said.
