Romesa bags U-14 title, Asad in U-18 final

KARACHI: Romesa Malik clinched the girls Under-14 title while junior top seed Asad Zaman secured a spot in boys Under-18 final as the Ghazi & Magsi National Juniors and Seniors Tennis Championship enters its final stretch here at the Modern Club on Friday.

Romesa delivered a clinical performance against Rania Bus, securing the title with a commanding 4-1, 4-0 victory.

Meanwhile, Asad put on a dominant show in the semi-final, defeating Amir Mazari 6-2, 6-2. Joining Asad in the final is Mohammad Salar, who overcame a tough challenge from Mohammad Yahya in a thriller, winning 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.

In the men’s singles semi-final, Ruhab Faisal edged past Taimoor Ansari in a nail-biting match, prevailing 9-7 to secure a spot in the final.

The girls Under-18 semi-final saw Eschelle Asif mount an impressive comeback against Noor Hilalay, winning 1-6, 6-1, 6-4 to advance to the title match.

Other results included Mohammad Junaid cruising past Ali Bachani 4-1, 4-1 in the boys Under-14 semi-final while the boys Under-12 semi-final witnessed Mohammad Muaz defeating Tariq Rafi 5-3, 4-2.

The men’s doubles semi-final featured Farhan Altaf and Zubair Raja defeating the duo of Ibrahim Iltifat and Bilal Sooro 8-5, while Amir Mumtaz and Ather Anwar overcame Altaf Hussain and Saleem Siddiqui 8-6 in the seniors 55+ category.

Soraya Bus triumphed over Taiba Yar 8-4 in the women’s last-four clash, while in the boys Under-12 doubles quarter-final, the pair of Muaz and Tariq Rafi defeated the team of Ayan Essa Jee and Ashar Bhaila 4-1, 4-0.
