An Israeli strike on the southern Lebanese city of Sidon has killed three Lebanese citizens and wounded three Lebanese soldiers, Reuters quotes the Lebanese army as saying.

The strike targeted a car while it was passing a checkpoint, killing three Lebanese who were inside the vehicle, the army said in a statement.

The wounded soldiers had been serving at the checkpoint, according to the army statement.
