PESHAWAR: Adviser to the CM on Information Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif said the incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan was kept in isolation and requested the Human Rights Watch (HRW) to take notice of the inhumane treatment meted out to him.

A statement issued from his office read that Mr Khan was confined to a small cell, and the power supply to the cell had been suspended for the last 14 days.

“I appeal to the Human Rights Watch to take notice of this inhumane treatment,” the statement quoted the chief minister’s aide as saying, adding, “The illegal government will have to answer for each and every step.” Ali Saif said the Constitution was secretly being amended without bringing the amendments to the knowledge of general public, adding that the judiciary’s supremacy was being undermined.

“Only political figures should do the politics; we stand by Khan,” he said. He also congratulated Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) workers for holding peaceful protest on last Friday and said that the protest proved the incumbent government never represented people of the country.

He said that the party workers would continue to struggle for the release of their leader as Mr Khan was the only hope to steer the country out of crises.
