Trump pays tribute to October 7 victims

Donald Trump, the Republican Party’s presidential nominee, described Hamas’s assault on Israel a year ago as “an attack on humanity itself” and said, “We can never forget the nightmare of that day.”

According to Al Jazeera, the former US president made the comments during a campaign event at his Trump National Doral Golf Club in Florida to commemorate the first anniversary of the attacks.

He held a moment of silence for the victims and lit a candle, but made no mention of the tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians, including 17,000 children, killed in Israel’s subsequent bombardment on Gaza.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris also paid tribute to the victims of Hamas’s attacks and reiterated their commitment to securing a ceasefire in Gaza.

Biden lit a candle at a Jewish ceremony of mourning at the White House while Harris planted a memorial tree at her Washington, DC residence.
