Amnesty International calls for immediate ceasefire on Oct 7 anniversary
Amnesty International has called for an immediate ceasefire one year after the October 7 attack by Hamas.
“One year on, Amnesty reiterates its calls for an immediate ceasefire and the unconditional immediate release of civilian hostages held by Hamas and other armed groups and all Palestinians unlawfully detained by Israel,” the group said in a statement on X.
“The world must never forget the victims and the anguish of affected families. Humanity must prevail.”
Additionally, the group said Oct 7 was a “day of mourning for Israelis whose loved ones were killed and abducted by Hamas and other armed groups.
“This day also marks the start of the Israeli forces’ onslaught in Gaza that has killed tens of thousands and triggered an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.”
