Syria’s defence ministry said Israeli airstrikes that targeted its central region yesterday caused “material damage”, Reuters reports.

In a statement, the defence ministry said Israel had attacked Syria from the direction of northern Lebanon, targeting a number of military sites. It did not provide more details.
