Malnutrition making Gazans vulnerable to ‘vicious cycle’ of disease: UN report
The 1.9 million people displaced by Israel’s military campaign in Gaza face “harrowing conditions”, the UN reports in its latest situation update, including at one shelter in central Gaza’s Deir el-Balah where 14,000 people have access to only 25 toilets.
Worsening malnutrition is also making people vulnerable to disease in a “vicious cycle” of inadequate food, lack of clean water, little sanitation and lack of access to basic health services, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says in its latest Gaza report.
