BAJAUR: The members of Anjuman Bahali Mazooran, an association of persons with disabilities, here on Thursday staged a protest against tehsil municipal administration (TMA) for uprooting the gate of their office.
They blocked Khar-Munda road to all kinds of traffic. A large number of physically challenged people and leaders of the association attended the demonstration held outside Khar TMA office on Khar-Munda road.
The protesters also staged a sit-in against TMA officials for uprooting the main gate of their association’s office established in a government building. They alleged that TMA officials broke the gate of their office last night.
Leaders of Anjuman Bahali Mazooran including its president Bakhatawar Jan, Kifayt Khan, Shah Khalid Khan and others addressed the protest and condemned TMA. They alleged that TMA wanted to destroy their office and construct shops there.
They said that TMA officials were illegally constructing shops on the site of public washrooms in Khar Bazaar with the help of some influential people.
The angry protesters dispersed peacefully when some senior officials of district administration assured them that the gate would fixed instantly. They were told that no one had the authority to occupy their office.
A spokesperson for TMA said that the gate was installed in a wall, which was constructed illegally.
