DERA GHAZI KHAN: Armed gangsters on Tuesday kidnapped son of a businessman at Gajoji bridge in limits of Sadar police station.

According to eyewitnesses, six armed gangsters barged into a hotel located at Gajoji bridge in the vicinity and kidnapped son of a businessman, Irfan Gajoji. They also snatched a motorcycle from one Amir Hussain and fled the scene.

A day earlier, gangsters of Marari group had killed a police commando in the limits of Kot Mubarak police station. The police, in retaliation, killed four gangsters.

As per residents of the areas falling in the jurisdiction of Kot Mubarak and Sadar police stations, they had been living in continuous fear of gangsters, as the district and border military police (BMP) seems helpless.

They say that the BMP have failed to eliminate hideouts of gangsters of Ladi and other gangs established in their jurisdiction.

These gangs have been targeting settled areas, committing heinous crimes almost on a daily basis and fleeing to mountainous tribal area in Koh Sulaiman tehsil in the BMP’s jurisdiction.

DG Khan District Police Officer Muhammad Ahmed Mohyiddin was not available for his comments on the situation.

A retired police officer, commenting on the situation, said that both Punjab police and BMP personnel were not properly trained to combat these gangsters who were armed with sophisticated modern weapons.
