Minister hints at reopening BRT, Malam Jabba cases

PESHAWAR: Caretaker minister for transport Shahid Khan Khattak has hinted at reopening the corruption cases involving Bus Rapid Transit, Billion Tree Afforestation and Malam Jabba projects.

Addressing an open kutchery held at the office of the Nowshera deputy commissioner Kabir Afridi on Monday, the minister claimed the previous PTI government had ruined the provincial economy during its nearly 10 years rule.

He claimed there were still PTI remnants in the bureaucracy, which were creating hurdles in the way of the provincial government.

He said politics on free flour distribution should be avoided and all the poor households should be given free flour in a dignified manner.

The minister said the PTI government during its tenure had recruited about 5,000 media influencers for the party’s projection, who were paid salaries through taxpayers’ money while sitting at homes.

He said time would be required to clear the mess created by the PTI rulers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Shahid Khattak also hinted that the caretaker chief minister would also write letters to the relevant investigation agencies to probe alleged corruption in the pavement of banks of River Kabul in Nowshera and construction of small dams in the province.
