OKARA: A woman who died at the District Headquarters City Hospital two days ago was allegedly poisoned by her husband and son at Chak 13-GD.

As per the first information report (FIR), there were differences between Sughran Bibi and her husband Younas over the divorce of their son. Due to the conflict, she was prohibited by husband from seeing her parents.

Sughran’s niece was divorced by her son, which had created differences among the families.

Her brother, Jaffar Hussain, had got registered a case against Younas and son Ghulam Mustafa.

UO: The University of Okara’s School of Law (SoL) and Department of Criminology organised a meet-up with Lahore High Court former chief justice Qasim Ali Khan.

Speaking on the occasion, the former judge highlighted the process of development and implementation of laws in society.

He said the executive and judiciary were meant to perform their role for the implementation of the laws. He said the interpretation of the Constitution must be done by considering the spirit, not merely words.

He advised the law graduates to work for safeguarding the fundamental rights of the deprived sections of society.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Sajid Rashid Ahmad, Additional Advocate General Chaudhry Masood Gujjar, Assistant Advocate General Chaudhary Fidaullah, Dr Hamid Mukhtar and Barrister Shehzad Karim also spoke.
