DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The University of Agriculture, Dera Ismail Khan, organised a daylong study tour for the students of forestry department to Machu-Inayat forests of Layyah range, said a handout.
The students of BS forestry during the daylong trip got exposure of the biophysical characteristics of the existing mechanisms of the forestation as well as techniques involved, operations and the prevalent nursery raising procedures, it said.
Giving a presentation to the students, divisional forest officer Imran Sherazi spoke about the management, silvicultural practices, conservation of plants and preservation of wildlife species of the Machu-Inayat forest.
The students led by Dr Sareer later interacted with the officials to update their knowledge about the country’s ecology, climatic changes and countering related challenges.
The DFO briefed the students about the activities in the forest range, including tree plantation, weed control, habitat preservation, and forest planning and forest economics.
