Balighur Rehman urges parties to develop consensus on charter of economy

LAHORE: Governor Balighur Rehman has urged all political parties to develop a consensus on a ‘charter of economy’.

“The country needs economic stability for which all political parties should develop a consensus on a charter of economy,” the governor told a delegation of Faisalabad Chamber of Small Traders, led by its president Mian Zafar Iqbal, at the Governor House here on Tuesday.

“We need to put personal interests aside for the stability of the economy,” he said and added the federal government had decided to launch a socio-economic roadmap titled ‘Pakistan Outlook 2035’.

He said the government’s top priority was to bring economic stability to the country and to put the country on the road to progress once again.

The governor said small traders and industries should play an important role in the country’s economy. The business community was not only playing an important role in the country’s economy, but was also a source of employment to the millions of families, he added.

Zafar Iqbal said Faisalabad’s cottage industry would develop by provision of space for small industrial estate within FIEDMC.
