Heavy rain continues to lash parts of Sindh

LARKANA: It rained heavily in Larkana, Qambar-Shahdadkot, Dadu and Hyderabad districts and their adjoining areas on Wednesday, adding to rainwater accumulating on roads and streets from yesterday’s rain.

Met office recorded 7 millimeters rain in Larkana division and forecast heavy rains for two more days.

In Wagan town near Larkana, two cousins Jawed Ali and Mohammad Brohi were injured when a wall fell upon them during heavy rain. Jawed Ali later died in hospital, said sources.

It rained heavily in Qambar with strong winds for half an hour, resulting in stagnation of rainwater in low-lying areas and intercity roads.

Reports from Moenjodaro said that the ruined city received 16 millimeters

rain but the remains remained safe due to pre-monsoon arrangements, said an official.

Heavy rain lashed Mehar, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Johi and Dadu towns. Over two feet water stagnated on main roads in Dadu.

Drainage system failed and supply of power stopped in the wake of rain, sparking protests by angry citizens.

It also rained heavily in Thana Bula Khan, Thana Ahmed Khan, Karchat, Nooriabad, Kotri, Jamshoro and Sehwan and rainwater in Nai Baran and Nai Sann raised to 10 feet water.

Bharay, Kandyaro, Naushahro Feroze, Darbello, Moro towns, Kazi Ahmed, Sakrand, Balo Ja Qaba, Johl, Tando Adam, Khipro also received rain.

Another spell of heavy rain lashed Hyderabad and Met office recorded a total 76mm of rain at airport and 29mm in the city since morning.

The heavy rain started at 9pm and continued till 9.30pm leading to accumulation of rainwater on all main arteries.
