GUJAR KHAN: Police in Jhelum have arrested three more people for their alleged involvement in the gang-rape of a pregnant woman.

The woman was allegedly gang raped by five people in Arsal town in the limits of Saddar police in Jhelum on Saturday. The main suspect along with his accomplice were arrested on Saturday evening.

The suspects included a rickshaw driver from the locality of the woman with whom she had travelled to Dina on Friday. The rickshaw driver later allegedly entered into the house of the woman along with four other men and gang-raped her at gunpoint in front of her husband. The suspects had also taken away mobile phones and Rs20,000 from the house.

According to police sources, the suspects have confessed to the crime and rape of the woman was also confirmed in a medical report. District Police Officer Jhelum Kamran Mumtaz said the suspects would be produced before court with all the evidence.

Meanwhile, Dina police have arrested the wife of a lecturer, whose tortured body was found from a deserted area along the Grand Trunk Road near Domeli Mor on Friday. The police suspected that the woman had killed her husband in connivance with another man.

According to police sources, the lecturer, Rafaqat Ali, had estranged relations with her wife and the latter had also sought divorce from him a few months ago. The couple has two minor daughters.DPO Kamran Mumtaz said the suspects had also confessed to the crime.

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old boy was sexually assaulted in Khingar Mamdal village of Gujar Khan on Saturday.

The boy reported to the police that he worked in the tailoring shop of his brother. He was standing in a street when a man forcefully took him to a house and sexually assaulted him.
