DADU: Two miners were killed and another one was also feared dead when a coalmine in the Lakhra fields, some 30 kilometres from Jamshoro town, caved in on Monday.

Co-workers rushed to the accident site and started rescue work which was later joined in by employees of the civil administration.

After hectic efforts, bodies of two miners, identified as Gul Mohammad Pathan and Khalil Dawood, were retrieved from under the rubble and efforts were under way till late in the evening to locate a third one, Asmatullah Pathan.

Two get death in murder case

The court of the first additional sessions judge of Dadu on Monday awarded capital punishment to two of the four accused in a murder case registered against them at the Johi police station last year.

Mujtaba and Khair Mohammad were tried in the court, which had reserved its judgement after hearing the prosecution and defence. The judgement announced on Monday said the two accused were found guilty of killing a man, Usman Jamali in Khair Mohammad Jamali village of Johi taluka.

The convicts were also handed life imprisonment and ordered to pay a fine of Rs200,000 each.
