CHINIOT: Police arrested a man on Wednesday for allegedly cutting the nose and gouging out an eye of his wife over some domestic issue at Mouza Mangeeni, Bhowana.

According to the first information report registered by Bhowana police on the complaint of the victim’s father, Manzoor, his daughter Mumtaz Bibi, a resident of Chak 186-JB, was married to Aslam of Mauza Mangeeni a few years back. He said his daughter’s husband and in-laws would often quarrel with her over petty domestic issues since her marriage.

He said that on Tuesday night when he went to see his daughter to Mauza Mangeeni, he found that Aslam and his family members were torturing her. He alleged that Aslam cut her nose and gouged out an eye with a sharp-edged weapon.

The father intervened and rescued Mumtaz Bibi, who was by then seriously wounded in the attack.

A Rescue 1122 ambulance shifted Mumtaz to Bhowana Tehsil Headquarters Hospital from where she was referred to the Allied Hospital, Faisalabad, given her serious condition.

The Bhowana police have registered the case under sections 324, 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and arrested Aslam.
