Man kills cousin over marriage dispute

ISLAMABAD: A woman was killed by her cousin who wanted to marry her in the capital’s rural area, police said.

The incident took place in Alipur where the victim, identified as Samia Ashiq, was shot dead.

According to the police, one of her relatives wanted to marry her, however, when she was engaged to another person, he got enraged, came over to her house and opened fire on her.

As a result, she sustained multiple injuries while the attacker managed to escape, the police said, adding that the injured woman was taken to the hospital but she died on the way.

Meanwhile, a gang of robbers looted cash and valuables from a house in G-13/3, police said.

Five armed men entered the house of Abdul Khaliq and held the inmates at gunpoint. They then ransacked the house and escaped with cash, including dollars, ornaments and other valuables.

In another incident, culprits snatched cash and a mobile phone from a man in F-7, police said.

Mehar Khan was intercepted by two persons who introduced themselves as police officials and sought his physical search. While searching him, they took the cash and mobile phone and left the spot.

Likewise, two gunmen robbed a man of his mobile phone in I-9/3, the police said.
