HARIPUR: A model criminal trial court here on Monday convicted a resident of his wife’s murder.

Haq Nawaz of Andra Doga villagewas awarded 25 years imprisonment and Rs500,000 fine .The police had booked him on the complaint of the woman’s brother, Qari Mushtaq. The trial lasted two years.

According to the prosecution, Musarat Yasmin, a nurse at the Haripur district headquarters hospital, married Haq Nawaz and had three children from him.

Musarat bought a piece of land and built a house for her family from own savings.

Her husband pressured her to transfer her property in his name but she refused. On April 26, 2019, he stabbed Musarat killing her on the spot.

FOUR KILLED: Four people were killed here on Monday in different areas of the district.

The Khanpur police said Shamsur Rehman, 8, a resident of Islamabad and Zaheer Ali, a student of Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi, drowned in the Khanpur dam while bathing.

The police said Ehtesham Haider of Vijiyan village in Khanpur tehsil was found dead in the right bank canal of Khanpur dam on Sunday evening.

In Qazipur village of Ghazi tehsil, farmer Rameez, 13, was irrigating his agricultural fields when the cemented structure of an overhead water tank fell on him burying him alive under it.
