Two succumb to Covid-19 in capital

ISLAMABAD: Two people died after battling with Covid-19 in the capital on Thursday and 62 people were diagnosed with the disease.

During the last 24 hours 3,682 tests were conducted and the positivity rate was 1.6pc. As many as 140 patients reportedly recovered from the virus.

Officials of the capital administration said that the deceased, both female patients, were from the 50-89 age group. Both were residents of I-9 and B-17, they added. There are 2,687 active cases in the city, they added.

Rawalpindi

One person succumbed to Covid-19 in the district on Thursday and 26 people were diagnosed with the disease whereas 27 people were discharged from hospitals after recovering.

Positivity rate in the district jumped to 3.2pc from 1.8pc reported on June 9.

The deceased was identified as Khalid Mehmood, 53, resident of Kohsar Colony Taxila, brought to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences on June 9.

In Rawalpindi district, there are 329 active patients. As many as 54 patients are in hospitals including 25 who arrived from other districts and 275 patients are home isolated. As many as 712 patients are waiting for the results of their Covid-19 serology.

Eighteen of the new patients belong to the garrison city. As many as five patients are from cantonment areas, six from Potohar Town and seven from Rawal Town. One patient arrived from Taxila, three patients each came from AJK and Attock and one patient from Islamabad.

New patients were admitted in different hospitals of the city including nine admitted in Holy Family Hospital, 13 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 12 in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology, 19 in Fauji Foundation Hospital and one patient in Hearts International Hospital. Four patients are on ventilators in Rawalpindi, 18 are on oxygen support and 32 are stable.

Attock

Three people were diagnosed with Covid-19 on Thursday, according to health authorities.

District Focal Person for Covid-19 Dr Kashif Hussain said all patients belong to Attock city. The number of active patients in the district is 110 out of which 106 are home isolated while four are hospitalised.

While giving details of active patients in the district, he said there are 67 active patients in Attock city, one in Jand, 16 in Hazro, 7 in Pindigheb, five in Hassanabdal while 14 are in Fatehjang. One suspected patient is also admitted in the hospital.

On Thursday, the total number of suspected patients in the district - since the beginning of the pandemic - rose to 36,953 while screening of 40,205 people was carried out across the district out of which 33,688 were tested negative. Responding to a question, he said the results of 1,043 suspected patients are awaited. So far 2,070 people have recovered from the virus in the district.
