SIALKOT: Fifteen child patients in the children ward of the Govt Sardar Begum Memorial Teaching Hospital Sialkot were affected when a room of the Covid-19 vaccination centre, adjacent to the ward, caught fire on Sunday.
The hospital administration said the fire erupted due to a short circuit. Smoke of the fire filled the centre and the children’s ward.
The firefighters immediately vacated the vaccination centre and the children ward. The fire and smoke badly affected 15 children and some of them were shifted to Govt Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital Sialkot in critical condition.
Five fire engines of Rescue 1122 participated in this firefighting operation that took three hours to control the fire. This fire created a panic and stampede among the indoor and outdoor patients there. Published in Dawn, May 24th, 2021
