LAHORE: MPA Khurram Sohail Leghari who had recently rebelled against the PTI met Chief Minister Usman Buzdar at the Civil Secretariat on Tuesday and expressed confi dence in his leadership, saying he stands by the party. Mr Buzdar assured him to solve the problems of Mr Leghari’s constituency of Muzaffargarh and pledged to visit it as soon as possible. He said all the party members were united under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The CM said the parliamentarians would be given their due rights but the motives of the opposition would not be fulfi lled, he maintained. European Union Ambassador Androulla Kaminara also called on CM Buzdar and discussed matters of mutual interest.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM appreciated the EU cooperation for social sector reforms and expressed satisfaction that economic cooperation and best friendly relations existed between Pakistan and the EU. While discussing the steps regarding the GSPPlus status, the CM pointed out that a number of important initiatives had been taken.
He said the government was fully committed to overcoming the child labour and every citizen enjoyed equal rights in the country. The EU ambassador expressed satisfaction that the headway had been made by Pakistan with regard to GSP-Plus status and assured cooperation in water waste management and other sectors.
Meanwhile,National Assembly Members Sanaullah Mastikhel, Zahoor Hussain Qureshi, Livestock Minister Husnain Bahadur Dreshak, Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Sardar Dost Muhammad Mazari, MPAs Tahir Randhawa, Sardar Raza Dreshak and other parliamentarians called on CM Buzdar at his offi ce to discuss the upcoming Senate election and their constituency- related problems. The CM assured them to resolve the problems being faced by the parliamentarians, saying a strategy had been devised to resolve the problems in their constituencies.
The opposition would be surprised in the Senate election as the opponents of open ballet would face defeat in the election, he declared.
