SUKKUR: A man allegedly shot dead his young niece and a youth over suspicion of an extramarital relationship between them in Leerwani village located in Garhi Khero taluka of Jacobabad district on Saturday.

Officials at the Miranpur Buriro police station said that suspect Sohbat Leerwani allegedly shot dead his niece, Lalzadi, and a youth of the neighbourhood, Awais Leerwani, with a pistol and fled the area. They said it seemed to be a case of honour killing.

Lalzadi’s body was taken to the Jacobabad Civil Hospital and that of Awais to the Garhi Khero Taluka Hospital and then handed over to the heirs after post-mortem examination.

A hunt for the suspect was on, the police said.
