GWADAR: As many as 36 staff members and prisoners in the district jail in Turbat city of Kech district have tested positive for Covid-19.

Official sources said that among the Covid-19 infected patients in the jail, there were five members of the jail staff, including a deputy superintendent.

They said after observing symptoms of the virus in these people, the jail authorities conducted their Covid-19 tests.

The virus-infected jail staff had been quarantined in their homes and prisoners had been shifted to isolation places in tight security, Yasin Baloch, superintendent of Turbat Jail told Dawn.

He said standard operating procedures were being followed in the jail for protecting other prisoners and the jail staff from the deadly virus.
