SAHIWAL: Chak Badiyain police were conducting raids to arrest a 50-year-old man who was allegedly sexually assaulting his 15-year-old daughter for around five to six months.

The farm worker was a resident of Sikandar Chowk, Pakpattan tehsil. Police sources said some villagers found the teenaged girl at home in a precarious condition on Monday after which they informed her elder sister who lives with her husband that her younger sister was being sexually assaulted by her father.

The sister told a local journalist about it who in turn called the police helpline 15. Their mother had died years ago, while a brother worked outside the village and two other siblings were much younger to her.

Badiyain Assistant Sub-Inspector Zafar Khan told Dawn that the girl was sent to the DHQ hospital for medical examination and a first information report registered on her application. She told police that she was scared of her father due to which she could not share anything with other family members for so long.

An initial medical report revealed the girl had been constantly abused by her father. Her family demanded justice and the arrest of her father.

ENCOUNTER: Two armed suspects were killed and one managed to escape in an alleged encounter with a police team near village 138/9-L, GT road in the early hours of Monday.

District police sources claimed that both “dacoits” were killed in crossfire with a police team, led by Farid Town Station House Officer (SHO) Zaman Rasheed.

They claimed that a police patrol received a message that three armed dacoits were looting a van at a roadside near village 92/6-R. The patrol and a squad from Farid Town police rushed to the site, but the suspects managed to flee on a motorcycle after looting the passengers of the van.

Police chased the suspects and near village 138/9-L, found their motorcycle when suddenly the suspects started firing at the police team from nearby maize fields. After an exchange of fire for 30 minutes, police allegedly found bodies of two of the suspects in the fields.
