Senator escapes unhurt in accident: six killed

QUETTA: At least six persons, including a Levies man and five personal guards of Senator Mir Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti, were killed in a head-on collision between the vehicle of the senator and a truck at the Loralai-Dera Ghazi National Highway late on Sunday night, according to officials.

Senator Bugti who was travelling in another vehicle of the convoy remained unhurt.

Police officials said that the former home minister was on his way to Quetta travelling from Dera Ghazi Khan with his family and when the convoy reached near Makhtair area of Barkhan district, a vehicle of the convoy collided with a truck coming from opposite direction. As a result, four guards of Mr Bugti were killed on the spot and two others injured.

Police rushed to the site after receiving information, and shifted the bodies and two injured to district hospital. However, the injured could not survive.

Police identified the victims of the incident as Levies official Mohammad Khan, security guards Niaz Alam Bugti, Jalao Khan Bugti, Dilshad Khan, Muhammad Din and Sher Dil.
