MIRAMSHAH: Two security personnel were martyred in an exchange of fire with militants near Mirali in North Waziristan tribal district on Thursday night. Seven ­militants were also killed.

Police said the encounter between security forces and a group of terrorists took place in the Zekerkhel area.

An official said that three to four militants were also wounded, adding that security forces were patrolling the area when the fighting took place.

Martyred personnel were identified as Sepoy Momin Shah and Naik Sajid. Mean­while, a security post was blown up near Eidek village in tehsil Mirali.

Police said unidentified men had planted explosives in an abandoned structure which went off late on Thursday night. The structure was destroyed, they added.
