APNS hails exemption of hawkers, media workers from lockdown

KARACHI: The All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) has thanked the Sindh government for exempting newspaper hawkers and media workers from the lockdown it has announced in the province for 15 days to stop the spread of novel coronavirus.

In a statement, APNS president Hameed Haroon and secretary general Sarmad Ali appreciated the Sindh government’s decision of exempting hawkers and media workers from the lockdown by declaring them as members of essential services.

According to the statement, the APNS believes that the provincial government’s decision will help curb fake news circulating on social media about coronavirus as newspapers and news channels provide only authentic news to people.

The Sindh government on Sunday exempted newspaper hawkers and media persons from the ban on movement of people in the province.
