Sibtain sworn in as provincial minister

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Sardar Sibtain Khan on Tuesday returned to provincial cabinet after a hiatus of six months and is expected to head forestry department.

He had quit cabinet in June last year after being implicated in an inquiry instituted by the National Accountability Bureau.

He was sworn in at a ceremony held at the Governor House, where Chief Minister Usman Buzdar was also present.

On the occasion, Mr Buzdar congratulated Mr Khan, hoping he, being an experienced parliamentarian, would strengthen the party and efficiently implement its policies in the province.

Though Sibtain Khan was not allocated any portfolio immediately, sources in the provincial government say he is expected to get back the truncated forestry department. He earlier headed wildlife, fisheries and forestry department that was bifurcated. The portfolio of fisheries and wildlife was later given to Malik Asad Khokhar, who had joined the cabinet in September last year but remained without any portfolio.
