FAISALABAD: Police have arrested four “former” students of the Government Science College, Samanabad, for uploading video clips on social media in which they are shown thrashing other students publicly.
As per sources, a complaint was lodged by the father of a student on Oct 10, 2019 with Samanabad police, stating that a gang of students subjected his son to torture, filmed the episode and uploaded it on social media.
The man sought registration of a case against the suspects, but the police took no action which emboldened these students who also tortured some other youngsters and uploaded the video clips on social media, they added.
SSP operations wing Syed Ali Raza told the media that a complaint had been received against the “gang” and a video clip had also been provided to police, showing some students subjecting a youngster to torture.
He said the police arrested four of the suspects who were being interrogated, adding that more arrests could be made in the light of their statements.
The college administration had also been asked to provide details about the gang, he added.
Some college officials seeking anonymity said the students had named their gang ‘Total Mental Group’ and ran a page on a social networking website, where they used to post torture clips.
The officials said these students had been expelled from college for recording video of a female psychology teacher while she was delivering a lecture in the classroom.
They said though these students had been banned on college premises, they would force their entry there.
